Billabong Girls has beautiful desktop backgrounds on their website. Their awesome surf inspired photos and illustrations are the visuals that grace the background of my little mac. Speaking of Billabong, I love this 'Conglom' hoodie. The combination of bright prints is fun, unique, and lively. Oh, and the 3/4 sleeves are perfect for those upcoming late summer days.

ando: surf lover arteeest
As I'm packing for my trip down to the Outer Banks, I thought I'd post a little surf art to get us all in the mood. During my eastcoast deprived living experience out in SoCali I discovered the cutest little surf shop in all the land, Thalia Street. It had that home sweet home vibe and carried some sweet + unique brands. One of my faves was the [now no longer] Byrd Clothing. It was designed by the amazing and talented, Mr. Andy Davis. After I escaped back to the right coast, I forgot about my love for Andy and his simple elongated styled figures and flowing rounded waves. Then the other day I picked up the August Issue of Domino mag; and was elated to see Andy in a 'Surf Art' feature.
Andy is still doing what he loves, surfing and creating art. He started drawing at an early age and his mother encouraged his budding talent. At age 12 he caught the surfing bug and hasn't put down his board since. Andy now uses his daily surf experiences as inspiration for his art. He describes his style as "Loose and Dreamy, fun and fancy free, the way I think we all should be." Andy puts everything he loves into his whimsical creations. In his pieces he captures small moments of that perfect wave, the love between people, and yearnings of adolescent bliss. While looking at Andy's works, his passions are obvious, surfing, love, and freedom.

roxy jam 2007
The world's top women longboarders including Schuyler McFerran, Kassia Meador, and Claire Karabalsos, meet up this week at the 2007 Roxy Jam in Biarritz, France. The Roxy Jam is a festival of women's surfing, hosting the ASP Women's World Longboarding Championship and a multitude of musical and artistic events firmly rooted in the unique boardriding culture.
The Roxy Jam is a giant leap into women's surfing culture, reflected in a number of free public events organized on the fringe of the competition. Roxy will be unveiling its brand new fragrance. The week will also include concerts, art exhibitions, and workshops on the issues of ecology and social responsibility.
Artists like Caia Koopman and Lucy Mclauchlan are contributing their work to art exhibits by Keep A Breast and SpaceJunk. There will also be a surfboard completely covered in Swarovski Crystals. Each of the 39,000 crystals were glued on by hand, one by one. The board will be sold along with other items for a Keep a Breast auction that will be held in Paris this October to benefit le cancer du sein, parlons-en.

Shannon McIntyre
Every morning, when I wake up, one of the first things I look up and see is a beautiful print of a painting by the lovely, Shannon McIntyre. I fell in love with Shannon's work when I lived out in San Diego county and her prints were sold everywhere. Shannon is a surfer, artist, writer, surfboard shaper, and mommy. In college she earned the name "Soul Cruiser" and has kept the mellow surf-seeking gypsy attitude towards life ever since.
I love Shannon's whimsical and bright compositions. She has a flawless combination of styles; mixing perfectly realistic figures with stencils and spray paint. Her dreamy scenes and soft flowing colors are not only inspiring but also very calming. She makes you feel the colors of the water through her soft flowing shapes and curling ocean waves. Looking at Shannon's paintings is almost like having that perfect warm summer daydream.
