If you love design and snowboarding, your number one hero is probably Aaron Draplin. He's basically worked with everyone... Snowboarder and Snowboard Magazine, Gnu, Lib Tech, Ride, Forum, Grenade, Union Binding Co., Coal, and Nike (just to name a few). His daily blog is something I check out at least once a day. You can always count on him to provide the freshest links in design, snowboarding, and music, as well as other unique finds and inspirations. And when Aaron isn't designing out of his home in Portland, Oregon; he's traveling the states, playing guitar, or hanging out with his adorable dachshund named Gary.
I don't just admire Aaron because of his amazing creative skills. He's also just a plain old awesome guy! When I finally got to meet him in person at SIA this year, he gave me a whole bunch of goodies, from a sweet Work Station Calendar to a handful of Field Notes. He also walked around the show with me and shared his words of wisdom. He reminded me that design is FUN and that we are so lucky to be able to work in an industry that we are passionate about. Aaron is probably one of the nicest and most genuine individuals I have ever met. He goes out of his way for his clients as well as his friends. So not only is Aaron an inspiration to me as a designer, but also as a human being.
Be sure to check out a recent interview with Aaron by Hear Hear. Oh and if you order some stuff from Aaron's Merch section, you might be lucky enough to get an original drawing on your package (like mine shown above).
